Find the 3D models, materials, textures, environments, scans, and just about anything else you might need for your next project.

There are a lot of 3D marketplaces out there, but they aren’t all created equally. With the always rapidly evolving technology, 3D artists constantly need higher poly count objects and high-resolution assets. You also want to find 3D assets that are optimized for best performance in either massive LED volumes or on mobile devices. For video games, VFX, motion design, 3D art, NFTs, AR/VR, you just want the tools to make things look good as fast as you can.

Whether you are new to 3D or just trying to crank out a project quickly, here are a few of my favorite resources for models, textures, assets, HDRI, and more.

Turbosquid

Turbosquid is a giant in the 3D community. It’s a massive library of 3D models including vehicles, characters, animals, architecture, devices, and more. It’s simply one of the best 3D markets there is.

You can find just about anything on Turbosquid, with models compatible with Maya, 3dsMax, Cinema 4D, Blender, Unreal Engine, and more. If you are just getting started in 3D you can even find thousands of free 3D models you can play and experiment with.

KitBash3D

If you have to do any world building, it doesn’t get much better than KitBash3D. The name comes from the old term of bashing model kits together, and their 3D assets are all built to do the same.

Easily build a city with one look in mind, or mix and match different collections to make unique future skylines or wastelands.

Quixel MegaScans

Megascans offers a “mega”-library of scanned environments, objects, textures, and now MetaHuman characters.  If you are using Unreal Engine the entire library is free to use. For VFX and 3D artists you can find affordable individual and studio licenses.

Substance Source

Substance Source (now Substance 3D Assets) is a rapidly growing library with wonderfully curated collections of 3D assets. You will find materials, models, environments, and more. Substance materials are remarkable and just a joy to use.

Poliigon

Poliigon has a great selection of over 3,000 textures users can download as instant shaders for select 3D software and render engines. If you use Cinema 4D and Redshift, you can just click a button and have a ready-to-use shaders, no assembly required. The site now even offers HDRI, models, and sculpting brushes.

You can test out their textures with a variety of free textures.

Shawn Astrom

Shawn has made some of the best skies you can get. They are gorgeous and insanely useful. There are epic sunsets, cloudy skies, and even space nebulas.

Each sky and space nebula took him hours upon hours to create, some up to seventy hours of render time. That’s all time you get to skip and now just drag these 14K skies into your project.

SketchFab

SketchFab has over 3 million models available. What’s nice is the tech behind the site with a 3D Viewer which allows you to easily preview models is your browser. SketchFab has models for all sorts of projects, including 3D printing.
